Peace River View project edit

A site that explores Florida watersheds and their environmental significance. We hired a wonderful photographer and writer, Jim Phillips, to create the poetic narrative and lovely photography. I did all design and code.

Resist Today View project edit

Resist Today is an independent art store I co-own. We sell art t-shirts, wallets, messenger bags and digital prints. I designed all aspects of Resist Today from the web site, newsletters, stickers, pins, t-shirts to the code that powers the site, the custom database structure and our order shipping system.

MFA art catalogue View project edit

Josh Bertrand and I designed this 72-page catalog for the graduate art program at the University of South Florida. We scoured the USF library for old books with torn pages, stains and folds. In the end Josh and I had hundreds of scanned textures to recombine and use in the heavily-collaged design.

Six Finger Records edit

Web site for a now defunct independent record label. The look is rooted in collage; starting with antique music materials and other paper textures for inspiration. I designed these pages as well as coded a custom shopping cart and photo galleries and an extensive admin area for this project.

WaterMatters.org View project edit

I worked as a web designer and webmaster for this large environmental agency for 10 years. I redesigned and helped reorganize the whole site twice; hand-coded thousands of pages; re-coded the site from antiquated table-based layouts to clean and efficient CSS and XHTML code. I designed and coded dozens custom web interfaces and databases: a large shopping cart & order tracking system, a grant application system, an event calendar, a photo sharing intranet site, a news article publishing system and several web apps for job/task tracking.

Green Swamp View project edit

A Flash sub-site for Watermatters.org that uses subtle motion to draw the viewer into the narrative. The Green Swamp is a very large preserve in central Florida that serves as the headwaters for our four major rivers. I designed the site and did the Flash implementation.

Water publications View project edit

This is a custom order tracking system for Watermatters.org. I designed and built it from scratch using PHP and MySQL. The customer site helped manage and deliver over 4 million water education brochures to happy customers, while staff love the admin area for its easy inventory management and dynamic reports. I designed this app, wrote all of the PHP/jquery code and designed the database structure. Behind the scenes it's a complex and custom web admin area that allows multiple people to track and ship orders, print shipping labels, customize order reports, manage a print inventory of hundreds of thousands of publications, as well manage the PDF print files.

Static II View project edit

Static is a series of independent skate videos by filmmaker Josh Stewart. I created the spooky, dark and well-traveled design for the web site, posters, DVD packaging and animation for the film. This was a Red Labor project with partner Josh Bertrand.

Watershed excursion View project edit

A sub-site for Watermatters.org that explores the sandy beaches of southern Florida. This was well-received by the CSS community and is still among the most visited pages on the site. I did all design and code.

National archives View project edit

I designed this public site for the National Archives while I was working for Second Story Interactive in 2007. This look is clean and consistent, while bringing a little texture and color to the site. The backgrounds are faded, historic documents that change depending on the section. I designed, but didn't execute, this site.

Recycle the rain View project edit

I enjoy editing text to be web-friendly and take pride as a designer who gets his hands dirty with writing content. This 1-page web site about rain barrels is a re-design of an old 30-page booklet. I re-wrote the text to be short and easily digestible; the design is friendly and uses a lot of images to draw people in to read.

Eats edit

Eats is my personal food journal; it’s a web page designed for the iPhone. I made it to help me track what I’m eating and how I’m feeling afterwards.

I built this with a custom PHP framework. It uses lots of jquery for ajax updates and some subtle interface details. The data visualization is 100% CSS, based on code from this A List Apart article.
